Carey suddenly woke up to Zedy barking at the door. Paul had just arrived, it was already past midnight. He was staggering towards the door, almost falling over as he walked. He smelled strongly of alcohol. He just looked at Carey, waved his hand to say hello, and walked into the bedroom.
Carey was unmoved. She knew her husband stopped at a bar in town before coming home. It wasn’t the first time nor would it be the last. They used to argue and fight for nights like this; not anymore since the affair. She went to the kitchen and put the food away. Tomorrow, she planned on leaving home early before Paul woke up. She wanted to go to the spa for a massage and shop for a few clothes. She would spend the weekend by herself and with Paul’s credit card.
